Architectural tours of Cologne
See architectural highlights in Cologne and its neighborhood
The subject of architecture has always played a leading role at imm cologne. The planning of buildings and the design of interior spaces show a considerable overlap, as evidenced by the ever-growing interest in the furniture fair. For those interested in the art of building and urban design, the Cologne Exhibition Centre will again be organising a number of exciting bilingual architecture tours in German and English. Alongside bus tours of the highlights of Cologne's 2000-year-old architectural history there will also be tours of the post-war reconstruction architecture of the 1950s, as well as tours covering architecture and lighting design. A walk through the newly designed Rheinauhafen will take in the most ambitious modern large-scale building project in Cologne. An additional tour will also visit the spectacular, newly built Kolumba Art Museum as well as the monolithic chapel in the Eifel region, both important works of the Pritzker prizewinner Peter Zumthor. A tour of the galeries of this city of the arts, along with a gastronomic tour featuring some of the best of the local dishes and specialities, rounds off the program. Be sure to register before January 4, 2010- demand for places is high.
Because of insufficient registration some architectural tours had to be cancelled.
